About Us
Brule River Cabins sits on a narrow finger of Long Lake—far enough from the road that engine noise fades into birdcall, close enough to the river that the water never stops moving.
We built these cabins for the people who book a trip and actually turn off their phones. For the couples who want a view that doesn't ask for anything back. For the families who measure a good vacation by how many mornings they wake up without an alarm.
There's no pool. There's no restaurant. There's the lake, the pines, and the kind of quiet that makes you remember what your own thoughts sound like.
The Cabins
Our largest cabin, perched right where Long Lake feeds into the Brule River. Two bedrooms, a full kitchen, and a wraparound deck that catches the evening light. Sleeps four comfortably.
Tucked slightly back from the water among mature pines, this one feels like a secret. One bedroom, a stone fireplace, and a loft that's perfect for reading or sleeping with the window open. Sleeps two.
Floor-to-ceiling windows face the lake on this one. One bedroom, a compact but complete kitchen, and a private dock you can step right onto. The simplest cabin—and the one people remember most. Sleeps two.
The best trips are the ones where nothing on the itinerary matters. You show up. The lake is there. The cabin is quiet. The rest takes care of itself.
The Experience
Boats are available on-site. Glide through the coves at dawn when the mist is still sitting on the water and the loons haven't started calling yet.
Miles of forest trail thread through the property and connect to the wider Long Lake area. Moose are common in the spring. Bear, too—watch from a respectful distance.
Walleye, northern pike, perch—the lake delivers. We'll point you to the right spots and the right seasons. Bring your own gear or ask us to help you get set up.
There's no streetlight glow here. On a clear night the Milky Way is visible from the deck. Bring a blanket. Stay up later than you planned. It's easier than you'd think.
This is the main event. Read. Nap. Watch the light change on the water. Let a full day pass without checking your email once. The cabin won't judge you for it.
Spring wildflowers. Summer mornings on the dock. Autumn fire and gold in the hills. Winter silence so deep you can hear your own breath. Each visit is different.

We're about an hour north of Wausau via Highway 55. The road is paved until you hit us—then it's gravel for a quarter mile. A regular car gets you here fine; a four-wheel drive is a nice-to-have in the winter months.
